For Calgary multimedia artist Destiny Dewayo inspiration comes naturally, she doesn’t chase it, because it grows through routine and reflection. Dewayo allows their thoughts to suggest artistic behaviors, strong emotions, memories, and passionate ideas that fill their mind. For Dewayo and many other Calgary’s artists, inspiration is something that develops through all types of experiences and subtly grows through daily habits.
Moments of pause is an important part of the creative process. Whether it’s working with photography, illustration, painting, tattooing or print making, Dewayo often takes pauses to build on a thoughtful reflective moment, and to feel their ideas developing throughout their artwork.
